At the 6th Annual Wisdom Summit – Igniting Aging Activism, we will be doing just that – inspiring participants to take the next informed step toward making Maine a place where we can all live healthy, engaged and secure lives as we age in our homes and communities.

The Summit will build momentum from last year’s Summit, using the Blueprint for Action on Healthy Aging as a launching point for what’s next. Participants will get the latest policy and reform updates from state policy leaders, learn what’s working across our state, region and the country, and connect to tools they can use to be the most effective agents of change. From building “Age Friendly Health Systems” and “Lifelong Communities” to engaging in comprehensive planning and long term supports and services reform, we all have a role to play. Everyone will leave the Summit with one or more action steps they can take toward making Maine a better place to age well.

We’re excited to announce that former Assistant Secretary for Aging, Kathy Greenlee, will be the Wisdom Summit keynote speaker. Kathy Greenlee has a deep expertise in the areas of aging, long-term care, disability, elder abuse, health care, community service innovation, and LGBT health. Her goal is to engage local, regional, national, and international partners to advance programs, policies and systems reforms aimed at improving people’s lives.

Who should attend? Everyone will find something useful at this year’s Summit, but content will be particularly useful for municipal officials; leaders of lifelong community efforts; social service, behavioral health and health care providers, researchers, advocates and policy leaders, including legislators and state officials; and people interested in issues related to workforce, transportation, housing, research, and technology.

Exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities are available. Contact jmaurer@mainecouncilonaging.org or 207-592-9972 for more information.
